For example, I ran Disney's Bambi through IMGBRN. This means your movie plays much faster from your content streamer (from start) and cuts down the size by as much as 70%. It also strips out the previews, FBI warning, extra features, etc. I've found it best to rip the movies with this program directly to my PC and then to transfer to my NAS. The program takes forever and a day and sometimes stalls. How many of us can afford 8TB solutions? Yeah, thought the number was low.ģ.) Clown_BD - This program requires you to download the other programs with it, including the aforementioned IMGBRN. This takes up about 40-50 GBs per average BD. It burns a 1 to 1 image from your BD, meaning you get all the previews, the ability to choose scene, extra features, etc. Did I mention it is free? Unfortunately, budget and space prevented me from simply using this program. Very easy interface and it works quickly. You simply tell the program where to burn your file and then hit one button. And it took longer than IMGBRN.Ģ.) IMGBRN - Great program. UPDATE: I ran ANYDVD Ripper to rip an ISO and it came out the same as IMGBRN (did not remove the previews, even though that box was checked). You just have to pony up for this program. As usual, such protections mean little to thieves but prevent those of us who paid for our product from using it in the manner we desire. So that's what I decided to do.ġ.) AnyDVD HD - You absolutely need something to strip the protection so you can rip the BR. The consensus from the first thread was that I should rip my BR's to an ISO file. Īnyways, I've setup my NAS and Dune Media Player so now I can share my own experience. The segment map will match up with the playlist you generated when you find it.A few weeks ago, I started a thread about how I should go about ripping BR. Keep going through the titles until you find the correct one. Try to learn the 3 or 4 first parts so you don't have to look back and forth all the time. This will take a while as you have to match up the segment maps by eye. Open the ripped disc (or the original disc if you prefer) in MakeMKV and start scrolling through the playlists with the arrow keys. I will strongly recommend that you go into MakeMKV's preferences and set the "minimum title length" to be as close to the completed playlist as possible to weed out any fake playlists with a shorter playtime. Save the completed playlist and write down the stream titles like "00509, 00512, 00510" etc for easier viewing. If it's a complete scene change it usually helps to go by the background music and hear if it matches with the last clip.Ĭontinue finding the next clip and next clip until you have found the complete movie. You now have to find the next m2ts file that contains the next part of the video. Go to the end of the file and watch the last few seconds. Once you have that, add that m2ts file to the playlist of the second instance of your media player. Skip through the rest of the files until you find the beginning of the movie. Skip through every file and remove any files that are menus, extras or piracy messages. Open the Bluray folder of the movie you just ripped and add all the m2ts files in the STREAM directory to the first instance of the media player. Open two instances of your favorite media player that can read the m2ts files. It takes probably 60 minutes from starting to finding the correct playlist.įirst you need to make a decrypted backup of the whole disk as you will be manually sorting through the media files. I can't tell you what playlist to use but I can tell you how to find it.
